A fully automatic nuclear segmentation result has been generated, but it is not quite acceptable. This page describes the steps to take to move from "automated result" to "acceptable result"
 Step 1. "Find Tiny Islands" Sort the table by volume and eliminate all objects with a shared boundary = 0. This is best done by selecting these objects in the table view (while holding the Ctrl key). A group delete function may be used to remove these objects. In this step you may also explore other tiny objects with a very small, but non-zero, shared boundary. |
 Step 2. "Find Huge Objects" Using the table or the scatter plot, inspect and edit very large objects(in volume and/or surface area - usually SPLIT) |
 Step 3. "Find Fragments" Using a scatter plot of volume vs. shared boundary, inspect and edit objects that have a small volume and large shared boundary. It is most likely that these objects will need to be MERGED. |
 Step 4. "Verify" Scan Image or randomly select objects to verify that the result is acceptable and can now be used for quantitative study. |
